AFC Telford United's hopes of a place in the top tier of English football died when they lost 1-0 at Gateshead in the Blue Square North play-off final.

They went down to an 82nd minute free kick from Phillips, which deceived keeper Young, who failed to react.

Telford have to content themselves with another campaign next season in the Blue Square North.
