Prolific Mille Pullen attracting the big guns

Super striker Millie Pullen has grabbed the attention of one of English football's biggest clubs with her goalscoring exploits this season.

The 11-year-old from Walcot has been nothing short of prolific for Wolves' under-11 girls team.

She also plays for Shrewsbury Town's under-11 development team and for her primary school, Trinity Church of England in Ford.

Across the three teams, she has found the net 97 times this season and is now in the fourth week of a six-week trial with Manchester City.

Her passion for football started with watching Liverpool with her father, Stuart, as a young girl, and she is now in her third season as a player.

Stuart said: "I used to play myself. I played a lot locally, my grandfather (Arthur Brooks) used to play for Wolves, but with Millie it started with watching Liverpool," said Stuart.

"I used to have to play 'You'll Never Walk Alone' to get her to sleep. I took her along to Shrewsbury Town juniors three years ago and she got into it straight away."

After a season with Salop, Stuart decided to take Millie with him to The New Saints in Oswestry, where he was the coach of the under-10 girls' side and it certainly paid off.

Stuart said: "She scored three times in her first season with Shrewsbury, we looked elsewhere and I took her to The New Saints when I was the under-10 coach down there.

"She played under me for a season. I put her up front and I remember her getting 10 goals in one game, 103 for the season, and then she caught the eye of Wolves.

"Joining three-quarters of the way through last season, she helped them to a league and cup double."

Her goalscoring form attracted interest from Manchester United and Aston Villa, but she opted to stay with Wolves.

She has a meeting with a coach about her progress at Manchester City tonight and her first game went a long way to making a good impression.

Stuart added: "She has got training for Manchester City today and we are both massive Liverpool fans so we have got to miss the Europa League final, but it's OK.

"In her first game for City, she scored seven goals in 30 minutes against a team from Liverpool.

"In her second game, she scored once against Macclesfield so she has got eight goals in her first two games for them, which is unbelievable.

"She is currently in the fourth week of a six-week trial at City and she has a progress report with one of the coaches tonight.

"Hopefully, they will extend it (the trial). I don't think seven goals in her first game will go unnoticed but, if nothing else, she will hugely benefit from the experience there.

"She really is one to be proud of and hopefully she can follow Joe Hart in going from Shrewsbury Town to Manchester City.

"Her desire is to play for Wales. I am speechless with how well she has done and as long as she's got the drive, I will continue to push her.

"I think Millie can get whatever she wants out of football."
