AFC Bridgnorth set to sign a goalkeeper
AFC Bridgnorth are set to sign a goalkeeper in time for their all-Shropshire friendly against AFC Telford United tonight.
Crown Meadow boss John Psaras has targeted a new shot-stopper to compete with regular Chris Crooks and was in talks with a player yesterday.
Psaras said: "Chris is a fantastic goalkeeper and very good, technically, but I'm trying to sign a goalkeeper to push him and, hopefully, we'll have someone in for the Telford game."
He will also field three new signings against the Bucks after they made their debuts in Saturday's opening warm-up against Redditch United, which they lost 3-1.
Central midfielder Leon Owen-Salmon joins fellow 19-year-old new arrivals from AFC Wulfrunians Lewis Harper, who plays on the left wing, and striker Rory Harris.
Psaras said: "Leon had a great game against Redditch so he'll be signing for us and Lewis and Rory are coming over this week.
"They were playing in Canada trying to win a scholarship but I don't think that's going to happen."
Psaras also intends to field at least three youngsters from the new under-21 side set up for this season - strikers Tyler Sands-Fawks and Luke Whitfield and midfielder Elliot Lee.
He said: "There are one or two from the under-21s who have done really well in training and against Redditch and they will feature against Telford.
"Also, the two centre-backs, Tom Whitney and Will Meredith, were outstanding."
