Wolves' Michal Zyro praised for comeback – but won't be risked against Preston tomorrow
Polish forward Michal Zyro has been praised by Wolves boss Paul Lambert – but won't be rushed back for an emotional end-of-season comeback tomorrow.
The 24-year-old recently returned after a year out with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
He has made several appearances for Scott Sellars' under-23 side and will have been targeting a first-team return before the end of the season.
However Lambert, while pleased with Zyro's recovery, thinks the Preston clash comes too soon.
"I think it's still to early for Michal," Lambert said yesterday. "He's a wee bit short of it.
"But listen he's done unbelievable, him, to get back. That lad has done fantastic.
"His work and his rehab, he's gone about it the right way, he's worked his backside off to get back. For him just to play again is incredible.
"I think he's got an incredible left foot and a brilliant attitude to the game of football. He's a top pro, a good guy.
"We just need to watch that it's not too early for him."
Zyro was sidelined by a horror tackle from MK Dons defender Antony Kay in early April 2016.
He and fellow cruciate knee ligament victim Jordan Graham – who recently made his first team comeback against Huddersfield – will be given tailored fitness plans over the summer to keep them in good condition before pre-season training begins again in July.
