Jorge Mendes will be key to Wolves signings
Super-agent Jorge Mendes will play a key role in bringing new players to Wolves, the club's new owners have confirmed.
Fosun's Jeff Shi admitted transfers would be sought from Benfica, a club with close links to Portuguese agent Mendes, whose many world-famous clients include Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
But there will be no formal feeder-club-style link between Wolves and Benfica, or indeed any other club. Shi said: "Jorge is my friend, a very good friend.
"When I chose the club to invest, he gave us a lot of advice on why Wolves is the best club.
"After the takeover, I think he will be one of our agents. He's now working on that to try and bring players to us. I think he has a lot of resources in the world.
"Some clubs have a very good relationship with him. I'm also very familiar with our friends in Benfica, I know the chairman there (and) the CEO.
"Maybe we will try to get some players from there."
At an intriguing press conference yesterday, Shi answered many of the burning questions fans have wanted answering.
Issues have been since Thursday's dramatic announcement that Fosun had bought Wolves for £30million. However, a stadium redevelopment isn't yet on the cards.
Shi added: "Not yet. I think currently for this year the most important is to strengthen the squad and have a very competitive team.
"I have no time to research this up to now. Jez (Moxey) told me maybe the best thing is to try and wait until we go into the Premier League and that will be good timing then to think about it."
As for his time commitments to Wolves, Shi will spend a quarter of the year with the club, not running it day-to-day.
He said: "I will spend almost one quarter per year here. I will not be the guy to manage the club on a daily basis, we have to find a CEO to help me.
"I can say the club is one of the most important things to me. I will spend most of my time to work on it. I will commit my time."
