Steve Daley: Jack Price is Wolves' leader
Midifelder Jack Price has been compared to legendary captain Mike Bailey and backed to be a leader for Wolves this season.
Former Molineux favourite Steve Daley is tipping the 23-year-old to shine for Kenny Jackett's team in the upcoming Championship campaign.
Daley believes Price has the potential to inspire his team-mates in a similar fashion to Bailey.
He was a driving force leading Wolves to promotion, the UEFA Cup final and a League Cup triumph during a stellar career at the club.
Daley, who played in the same team as Bailey during the 1970s, said: "It is not the kind of thing I say lightly, but he reminds me in many ways of Mike.
"I saw quite a lot of him over the closing weeks of the season and he is a terrific player, he was the man making the team tick. Mike was such an inspirational character.
"It sometimes didn't matter if he was not playing so well because he was able to encourage the players around him.
"Price has that bit about him and I would expect he will be among the first names on the team sheet this season.
"He gets about the place and isn't afraid to roll his sleeves up or put his foot in when needed."
Price made just 27 appearances for Wolves last term, but his popularity among supporters was highlighted by the fact he finished second in Player of the Season voting.
Daley, who covered many games last season as a summariser for local radio, reckons Jackett's team were too often lacking a leader as they finished a disappointing 14th in the table.
He said: "That is the kind of player Wolves require. Sometimes, last season, it looked like it was all too much for them.
"A goal would go in, or someone would make a mistake, and you'd be looking at someone to deliver a rollicking but it never happened.
"They need a leader in the team and I think Price can be that person. He gets everyone going around him."
