Magnificent Matt Doherty is living the dream
Man of the moment Matt Doherty beamed over his last-gasp Wolves winner, saying: It's the stuff dreams are made of.
Doherty's 94th-minute header earned all three points for Kenny Jackett's team as they beat Bristol City 2-1.
And Doherty, who had earlier set up Nathan Byrne's opening goal, said there was no better feeling.
"That's why we play the game, for moments like that," he said. "There's no better feeling. You dream about scoring last minute winners. And when it happens you kind of go crazy in your head, running off not knowing what you're doing.
"It was pretty exciting."
The Irishman is in the form of his Wolves career having put in a string of impressive performances at left back.
He also has three assists in his last three matches.
"I want to continue that form for the rest of the season," Doherty added.
"That's what happens when you've in the team and get successive games.
"I was out of it quite a bit at the start of the season which was frustrating, I thought when I get in I'm going to do my best not to let it go, even though I was at left back.
"I've done that so far hopefully.
"I always back myself, as every player does.
"My left foot's not the strongest but I can be clever by going round somebody, it's not panic stations when I get the ball.
"I really like going forward from left back because I can go inside or outside.
"When I get the ball full-backs they don't want me to run at them because they think 'I've dealt with the winger', and I know as a full back I don't want a full back running at me.
"Fortunately enough it's come off for me quite a bit in the past few games."
At aged 24 Doherty was Wolves' second oldest outfield player on the pitch at full time, just a year behind skipper Danny Batth.
"We've got quite a young team but we've got a talented team as well," he said. "When we lose games these boys are always hurting, myself included.
"And that's what happens, that's why you're in the Championship, you're learning and then when you go into the Premier League you're ready.
"We're looking to obviously win 10 out of 10, I know it's highly unlikely to win every single game but we're just going to do what we can and cause a few upsets on the way.
"You just never know, if teams are dropping teams ahead of you, stranger things have happened."
It' wasn't the first late winner Doherty has scored against Bristol City either.
And Doherty certainly seems to have the goalscoring bug.
He added: "I scored late on when we played down there in League One, 2-1 also, and that was back post as well although not a header.
"As a defender I don't score that often, I had a shot against Middlesbrough and I was saying to the boys after, when you don't score that often, the amount of things that go through your head when you think you've got a chance of scoring.
"I was thinking about celebrating, where I was going to go before I'd even hit it.
"But against Bristol City I saw it and just thought keep calm. I didn't think the keeper was going to miss it actually, I was hoping he would, and then it just hit my head and hit the back of the net – it was a pretty good feeling."
