Wolves' Nouha Dicko back next season

Wolves fans shouldn't expect to see striker Nouha Dicko back in action this season, the club's medical chief has confirmed.

Dicko has been sidelined since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) against Charlton last August.

With the recovery time estimated as nine months, there have been suggestions Dicko may return to play some part in the season.

But head of medical at Wolves, Phil Hayward, revealed that although Dicko's recovery was going well, he is targeting the 2016-17 season as a return date.

Hayward said: "There's no prospect for this season. It'll be the start of pre-season we're aiming for, it'll be too soon to be back before the end of the season.

"He's doing great, really well. He's not quite running yet, he'll probably be running on the anti-gravity treadmill in a week's time.

"His strength's improved really well, his range of movement is very good. He had a consultation with the surgeon at the end of December and he's really happy with his progress.

"With ACLs, the sooner you get them back the more chance of it going again. And the longer you leave it, the stronger it is."

"For Nouha, it's important he gets back and stays back and makes sure that knee is in as good a condition as it can be by the time the season comes around. He's positive and hard-working."

Meanwhile, defender Kortney Hause is due back in training imminently after recovering from a hamstring injury.

With under-21 games under his belt he is likely to be back in first-team contention next month.

Hayward said: "He's progressing nicely. He was back in training at one point for a day or so (last year) and, unfortunately, broke down again."
