Wolves' defender hunt intensifies after Kortney Hause injury

Wolves will this week step up their search for defensive reinforcements after losing Kortney Hause to injury.

Hause was stretchered off with a hamstring injury early in the second half of Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.

He was being assessed over the weekend but Wolves said early indications were it was 'fairly serious'.

The 20-year-old had played every minute of Wolves' league matches so far this season and his possible long-term absence means Kenny Jackett has just Dominic Iorfa, Matt Doherty, Danny Batth and Scott Golbourne left as recognised senior defenders.

Youngster Sylvain Deslandes was on the bench for the Boro loss, while midfielder Conor Coady stepped in at centre-half when Hause was withdrawn.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell is sidelined with a broken foot and isn't expected to return to training for at least a week. Iorfa missed the match through suspension and, despite picking up a knee injury against Brentford that would have forced him to miss out anyway, is expected to be fit for Saturday's derby away at Blues.

Wolves have been in the market for a centre-half on loan in recent weeks but their efforts have proved fruitless.

And boss Kenny Jackett said experienced defenders were 'at a premium'.

Jackett added: "

It leaves us very thin on the ground for recognised defenders."
