Kenny Jackett: Make Molineux a fortress

Wolves return to Molineux with boss Kenny Jackett urging his team to make the ground a fortress.

They host Brentford tonight in the first of two home matches in four days, with Middlesbrough visiting on Saturday.

Sunday's 4-2 defeat at Derby County was tough to take after recent good form which saw Wolves move just outside the play-off places.

They have only played two home games since August but have taken seven points from their last nine at Molineux, conceding just once.

And Jackett wants the stadium to be a stronghold on which to base a promotion campaign.

He said: "We want to make Molineux a fortress. The division is wide open at the moment with so many points to plan for.

"We need to put on a consistent winning run, which is difficult at this level, but winning your home games and having the opportunity – with two home games – is a chance and an opportunity we should recognise."

After these two home matches, Wolves face another testing fixture with a local derby at Birmingham City.

Jackett would rate a points total between six and nine from the next three matches as 'fantastic.'

He said: "We have two home games, a good run of games with Birmingham as well, games we're looking forward to.

"For this one tonight, in front of our own fans, we want to put on a good performance.

"Between six and nine points would be fantastic, it's the sort of run going into international breaks that can really help you.

"It can give the team and give the supporters optimism about the season and then, most importantly, affect the table where you're in a position to continue to do well.

"The Championship is testing, it's a very good division with everyone chasing the big league. There's a lot of quality and we want to be up there."
