Kenny Jackett: Don't waste time with bids for Benik Afobe

Wolves boss Kenny Jacket has issued a firm 'hands off' warning to Norwich over Benik Afobe, saying: "They are wasting their time."

Jackett is adamant that the club have absolutely no interest in selling Afobe at any price.

Norwich have lodged three bids for Afobe, the latest being £10million, but all have been swiftly rejected by Wolves. And the Wolves chief said that Steve Morgan, Jez Moxey and recruitment boss Kevin Thelwell were all on the same page regarding the continuous speculation – and insisted there is no magic figure that the club will accept from Norwich or anyone else.

"They (Norwich) are wasting their time," Jackett said.

"Although there's been renewed speculation and other bids we haven't changed internally in terms of how we feel about the situation.

"No figure has been discussed by the chairman down. The reason is that our club are not selling at this particular moment in time."

Jackett said he will have no hesitation to play the striker when Charlton Athletic visit Molineux tomorrow.

"I've got no hesitation at all to play Benik, we are planning to play him," insisted Jackett, who admitted he'll be relieved when the transfer window closes next Tuesday.

"He's obviously aware and talking about the speculation but he hasn't asked for a transfer.

"For him what he has to do is keep playing well, keep scoring goals and his career will continue to flourish.

"From Wolves' position, we haven't changed since we put out our club statement last week.

"Nobody's position or opinion has faltered since then."

Norwich boss Alex Neil has broken his silence on Afobe, claiming there is still 'some hope' that the Canaries will buy the player.

He said: "There's some hope, he's a good player and we want to attract good players."
