Wolves sign teenager Sylvain Deslandes
Wolves' new signing Sylvain Deslandes today called his move to Molineux "a dream come true" after joining up with the club on a two-year contract.
The capture was announced this morning from French top-flight side Caen, with Wolves retaining a further season's option.
The 18-year-old will join on July 1, after his contract with Caen expires. He has featured for the France at a number of age levels.
He arrives in England with a view to entering the club's Under-21 programme ahead of the 2015-16 season.
Discussing the switch, Deslandes said: "I am very happy. It's a dream for me to come to England and I'm delighted with the confidence the club have shown in me.
"I've never seen facilities like the ones here at Wolves, they are top of the range. Especially for young players."
Head of football development & recruitment Kevin Thelwell believes the French youngster has a lot to offer Wolves.
He said: "He's a player that we've seen a lot of playing for Caen and the French national teams. He's a natural left-footed defender, can play left-back or left side centre-back.
"He's got pace, he's powerful, he's strong, he's got good technique and we think if we can work on all of those assets then there's no reason why he can't make positive steps forward.
"You only have to look at him to know that he's fully equipped to deal with the physical nature of English football.
"He's also come from a good academy that have got a good reputation so, technically, he's very gifted."
