Kenny Jackett happy to play tinker at Wolves

Kenny Jackett today admitted he will again be tinkerman to keep Wolves' promotion fires burning at Cardiff tomorrow.

Wolves hit the road for the third of five games in 15 days with the head coach again looking to freshen up his team despite successive wins, eight goals scored and none conceded.

Jackett made three changes for the Rotherham game last Saturday and was rewarded with a 5-0 win, and then recalled Jack Price for James Henry on Tuesday and saw Wolves romp to a 3-0 Championship success against Fulham.

"In an ideal world you could keep the same team and almost reward the players for good performances and good results," said Jackett.

"But it doesn't work that way. I don't think you can hesitate to change it if you think that's right for the next game, whatever's happened in the previous one.

"We're delighted with six points from two home games, but the game at Cardiff will be different.

"I'm not one that will say 'don't change a winning team' because I don't think that's necessarily right.

"If they put in good performances and winning performances the players expect to play, but it's about a balance."

Jackett admits the availability of Kevin Doyle has helped him keep a 4-4-2 formation on the pitch for the last two games.

The 31-year-old's move to Colorado Rapids remains ongoing, but Jackett said: "I do think that's the case.

"To expect Nouha Dicko, Benik Afobe or Bakary Sako to play every minute of five games in 15 days would be unrealistic.

"It led to bringing Kevin in and it's worked out that way with two substitute appearances coming on with Rajiv Van La Parra, so we can be like-for-like in terms of the formation."

As for his move, Jackett said: "It's just discussions between the parties about the financial situation."

Wolves hit the road for two trips in four days backed by sizeable support.

They were within 150 tickets of selling out their 2,150 allocation for Cardiff yesterday lunchtime and have long since sold out of their 1,321 seats for Tuesday's trip to Bournemouth.
