Dave Edwards: Wolves at full throttle

Dave Edwards today insisted Wolves aren't thinking of hitting the beaches yet because they want the League One points record.

Edwards's ninth goal of the season helped Kenny Jackett's champions to a 1-1 draw away to Coventry on Saturday.

It put them on 100 points but they need to beat relegation-threatened Carlisle in their final game of the season on Saturday to claim the milestone of being the best third-tier team ever by claiming Charlton's 101-point milestone achieved in 2011-12.

Edwards, who has now bagged six goals in nine games and nine from just 21 starts, vowed Wolves will be at full throttle as they prepare to receive the trophy.

"No one is thinking of the beaches just yet – we want that record in front of a sell-out crowd at Molineux and getting the trophy afterwards will be a great occasion to play in," said the Wales international.

"We don't need to be told but it's set up beautifully now.

"We still need three points for the record and we're at home in front of a full house on a good pitch so there will no excuses from us.

"Anyone who gets the chance to play in that game will want to do well.

"Hopefully we'll have a good week in training and everyone will be up for it on Saturday."
