Preview: Wolves' Dave Edwards ready for Peterborough trip

A week is a long time in football. And, as Wolves fans know only too well from recent times, a matter of months can mean another relegation or change of manager.

Fourteen months ago, Dave Edwards joked before Wolves' last trip to Peterborough that their foreign legion might be surprised at the tightness of Posh's London Road ground as they hadn't played at such traditional British arenas before.

Back then, Wolves were fresh from relegation to the Premier League and attempting to rebuild under Stale Solbakken.

Little more than a year on, they are now only too aware of the vagaries of travelling to the lesser lights of lower leagues.

Back in September 2012, Wolves went to Cambridgeshire with Slawomir Peszko and Tongo Doumbia in the starting line-up while Razak Boukari and Bjorn Sigurdarson came off the bench to spectacular effect, the latter scoring a classy second in a 2-0 win.

That was Wolves' third victory in a week to send them from second-bottom to the play-off zone, their third success in a run of four straight wins and five in six as they eventually went third in the table by early October.

But, as we all know, it was to go horribly wrong. Solbakken's ideas increasingly unravelled as the players struggled to cope with what was being asked of them and the Norwegian paid the inevitable price in January.

Former Shrewsbury midfielder Edwards had to settle for being an unused substitute that day at Peterborough.

Now, as Wolves prepare to return to London Road, the 27-year-old is expected to play a role with far more involvement.

The Wales international has started four of the last five games, completing 90 minutes each time to suggest he is finally successfully managing his fitness after so many niggling injuries.

"Physically, I feel good at the moment and I just hope I do everything right," he said.
