Bakary Sako edges closer to leaving Wolves

Wolves winger Bakary Sako's exit from Molineux today edged a step closer, head coach Kenny Jackett has revealed.

Jackett admitted Wolves have turned down several offers "of a very high level" from Fulham for the Player of the Year.

With the clubs having been in talks for weeks, Sako has pleaded for the chance to fulfil his Premier League dream.

But the Molineux club are seeking £4million-plus for the former St Etienne wide man, who cost £2.2million last summer.

And Jackett said the clubs are getting closer to reaching agreement on a fee for the 25-year-old.

He explained: "Fulham are genuinely interested in Sako and it's in negotiation between the two clubs.

"As far as I know, no fee has been agreed yet but they are in negotiations. The offers are of a very high level.

"Whether it's at the point where the powers-that-be at Wolves want to accept is another matter."

Jackett said he was always resigned to losing Sako this summer.

He added: "Yes – he wasn't one I necessarily thought would still be here after the season he had last year.

"It doesn't surprise me that there's a lot of interest in him."

Meanwhile, Jackett admitted Wolves are no nearer to losing any of the four transfer-listed players – or Kevin Doyle. "

The Wolves boss said: "They are not negotiating, at the moment."

And Jackett believes the failure to land Luke Murphy could allow the chance for one of the club's young players to stake their claim.

The 23-year-old midfielder signed a three-year deal with Leeds yesterday.

Jackett said: "Luke Murphy was on our radar but there are some young guys here looking to make their name."

Meanwhile, Wolves today confirmed the signing of Danish defender Victor Wagner.

The 17-year-old centre-back said on Twitter over the weekend that he has signed after impressing for Esbjerg last season.

Wagner, who will join the club's under-18s squad, chose Wolves after trials with West Brom, Stoke and Huddersfield.

Wolves head of development Kevin Thelwell said: "Victor is a young player who we have been watching for a little while.

"He came on trial with us last year and did well. We think he can improve by spending some time with us."
