Wolves face late Blackburn bid for Luke Murphy

Wolves target Luke Murphy is to decide his future today – as Crewe received a rival £1million-plus bid from Blackburn Rovers.

They have received an offer from Rovers and Crewe bosses were due to consider the bid today.

This comes after Wolves' bid of around £1million for the 23-year-old was accepted earlier this week. It's thought Blackburn's offer at least matches Wolves' bid.

Blackburn, whose assistant boss Terry McPhillips knows Murphy from his time at Crewe, have been linked for some time with the player.

Wolves have made their pitch to Murphy and shown him around Compton, after being given permission to speak to him. But the rival bid is likely to match Wolves' offer.

And, after accepting his departure is inevitable, Crewe are happy for their captain to make the final decision on where his future lies.

Crewe manager Steve Davis said: "Wolves made a bid that was acceptable to the club and they were given permission to speak with Luke and his agent.

"There has now been another bid and we are in the process of looking through that.

"Nothing has been accepted with that one. If we can reach an agreement with the other club then Luke would be free to speak them.

"Something is going to happen today, I think. I think you will find by the end of the day it will become a bit clearer.
