Stephen Hunt: Wolves are on the crest of a wave

Wolves winger Stephen Hunt today urged his team-mates to stay "on the crest of a wave."

The 31-year-old scored the first goal in yesterday's 3-2 win against Birmingham as Dean Saunders' side made it three successive victories and four in five.

They have climbed to 18th, although they are only a point above the safety line with five of the six teams below having a game in hand.

Hunt's goal was his first since December 2011, after having a hand in two in Saturday's 3-2 win over Middlesbrough and setting up both in the 2-1 success against Bristol City.

"We want to keep everything positive and try not to look down the table and concentrate on the next game.

"There is a good buzz in the camp and a good feeling now – we seem to have the right mix to win games. We're playing the right style of football for the Championship."

Hunt insisted Wolves must not take their foot off the gas now as they prepare to take their revival to Bolton on Saturday.

"There's still a bit of work to do yet and now we've got to re-focus and recharge the batteries and look forward to Bolton on Saturday," he said.

"Everyone seems to be picking up good results around us."

Hunt believes Wolves need to return to the 'young and hungry' mentality they showed before they won the Championship in 2009.

"If you're fighting for your lives, you've got to have the mentality we had five or six years ago when we didn't have much in our careers," he said.

"People at the bottom are fighting for their careers and we've got to have the same attitude. We're on decent wages, but we have to have the same attitude as we had five or six years ago because that's what gets you success.

"In the last three or four games we've fought for everything – everyone has wanted to defend and attack."

Hunt's infectious style of play has inspired the whole team over the last few games.

"Winning breeds confidence – the win at Millwall was a lift for us," he said. "We had a little blip at Forest but after that we've got going."
