Wolves chasing double loan deal
Wolves were today trying to push through at least two beat-the-deadline loan signings to boost their depleted squad for the Championship relegation run-in.
Clubs have until 5pm tomorrow before the loan window shuts for the season for Football League clubs.
Boss Dean Saunders is looking to boost his goalkeeper, midfield and striking options after being robbed of Carl Ikeme, Bakary Sako and Dave Edwards for the rest of the campaign.
"We're still right in the middle of trying to get people in now," said Saunders.
"We were trying to get a few things through yesterday if we could, but it didn't happen.
"We're trying as we speak, because we're a bit short up front and we've lost Bakary Sako and Dave Edwards so we're without those two and Carl Ikeme, Wayne Hennessey, Razak Boukari and George Elokobi. We're looking a bit short in certain areas.
"But I'm trying to do something about it right now."
Wolves' loan targets are being kept under wraps but they have trawled through their Premier League contacts book only to find teams unwilling to allow players to leave, and targets reluctant to join a Championship relegation scrap.
But Saunders is determined to fill the gaps in his squad and strengthen the team if possible.
Stoke striker Cameron Jerome was understood to be one target, but he is currently in Tony Pulis's team and so it seems highly unlikely that he will be allowed to leave the Potteries to come to Wolves, while another, Norwich frontman Simeon Jackson, has joined Brighton.
The Molineux chief is looking to add another senior goalkeeper to the ranks after recalling Aaron McCarey from his loan at Walsall and has taken Slovakian free agent Marion Kello for a second trial at Compton as he assesses options to back up Dorus De Vries.
Wolves lost first choice Ikeme to a broken hand after he punched the tactics board at half-time during the Bristol City game.
