It's vital to end Wolves' home jinx, says Stale
Stale Solbakken was today hoping Wolves have exorcised their Molineux demons after the 1-0 derby victory over Birmingham.
Saturday's win was Wolves' first in front of their home fans in seven attempts, despite leading in five of the previous six home games.
But after securing back-to-back successes to follow on from the 4-1 victory at Bristol City, boss Solbakken believes Wolves could have ended their home misery as they look forward to successive visits from Peterborough and Mick McCarthy's Ipswich over the festive period.
"It was important in many aspects," said Solbakken, whose side go to third-placed Middlesbrough on Saturday.
"It was three points, a clean sheet and a derby win so hopefully a lot was put to bed. We've been in front in the last four home games and not been able to win any of them and that's been very frustrating.
"And a lot of strange things have happened in those games as well.
"It was important for us to win at home in front of the fans – who were fantastic – and also in a local derby."
The win lifted Wolves one place to 16th in the Championship and cut the gap to the play-offs from eight points to five.
But Solbakken is refusing to look at the league table for now.
"I think we need to concentrate on our own performances and not look so much at the table because it's still not good reading," he said.
"We've had back-to-back wins but we have two difficult away games to come against Middlesbrough and Blackpool.
"It's better to focus on those games instead of looking at the table. If we can get anything out of those two away games that would be good because we have the home fixtures over Christmas.
"But in this division I don't talk about the opposition or whether we're home or away any more – anything can happen!"
Solbakken believes midfielder Tongo Doumbia still has some way to go after returning to the starting line-up following two games out with fatigue.
"He was certainly better than before he went away," said the Norwegian. "He had more power although there's still a little way to go.
"He was much better but still not where he was at the beginning of the season."
