Wolves midfielder David Davis today insisted he has already become a better player under Stale Solbakken and vowed to stay in the first-team picture.

Former Shrewsbury Town loanee Davis, 21, signed a three-year deal in April after making an impressive breakthrough that saw him play seven Premier League games under Terry Connor and become one of the rare highlights of the relegation campaign.

The midfield anchorman figured in 30 league games for his parent club, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Chesterfield in 2011-12.

And after travelling to Ireland and being involved with the first-team throughout pre-season, the Black Country youngster is aiming to stay in the plans under the Norwegian.

"We did a lot more football in Ireland last week having previously done a lot of work to get that base fitness level right," he said.

"It's been good to get the footballs out again and the manager has been passing on some tactics about positional play and where we need to be.

"All managers have different styles and it's up to us as players to adapt to that.

"We've got someone with fresh ideas and I think getting different ideas on board always helps you become a better player."
