Richard Stearman today insisted Wolves' team spirit remains intact despite the 5-0 collapse at Fulham.

Wolves' morale took a battering as they crashed to their equal heaviest Premier League defeat at Craven Cottage on Sunday to drop back into the relegation zone.

Terry Connor's side looked like a beaten team long before the final whistle after Fulham took a 36th-minute lead.

But centre-back Stearman cited the fact that Wolves have retrieved more points from being behind – 13 – than any other top-flight team as evidence that the spirit hasn't ebbed away.

"Not at all. As people saw last week at Newcastle, we came back from 2-0 down to earn a point and we're top of the league for claiming points after going behind so the spirit is there," he said.

"Sunday was just a bad day and we've got to look to put things right against Blackburn."

But Stearman admitted that if Wolves continue to ship sloppy goals, their survival battle will be in vain.

"Costly errors have been the story of our season and we've conceded some very sloppy goals," he said.

"If we continue to give goals away, it's going to be impossible for us to get back into games."

Stearman was at a loss to explain the lacklustre performance in the capital.

"I don't know what happened – it was just too easy for them to play," added the defender.

"They seemed to be right on top of our back four straightaway and I felt it was only going to be so long before they scored."
