Mick McCarthy today insisted Wolves are still capable of a top-10 finish – but may need to repeat their end to last season to achieve it.

Mick McCarthy today insisted Wolves are still capable of a top-10 finish – but may need to repeat their end to last season to achieve it.

Wolves go into Sunday's 'must-win' clash at home to Wigan without a win in eight Premier League games and two points out of 24, while the Latics have lost seven in a row.

Despite the slide, McCarthy still feels Wolves are capable of a major turnaround, although he admits results must vastly improve.

"Why not? I said we were capable of it with all the points that had got away last season," said McCarthy when asked if his pre-season ambition of a top-10 spot was still possible.

"But we're not capable of it if we keep losing points now.
