James McFadden is set to sign a contract with Wolves after impressing on trial.
The 28-year-old is a free agent after leaving Birmingham in May and has recovered from a cruciate knee ligament injury.
Boss Mick McCarthy is keen to land the Scotland international, who will fill the remaining place in his 25-man squad.
"I want to sign him now and I sincerely hope we can," said McCarthy.
