Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards makes his long-awaited comeback against Millwall in the Carling Cup tonight insisting he's stronger than ever.

The Wales international hasn't played since the 4-0 win over Blackpool in February after suffering a back problem that at one stage looked like it may need surgery only to be corrected by core strengthening exercises.

Now the 25-year-old former Shrewsbury Town ace, who is three short of 100 appearances for Wolves, hopes his injury worries are over for good.

"I'm fully fit and it would be a great chance if I can play," said Edwards, who has trained for three weeks and had two reserve games.

"It's nice to have found out the cause of all the problems – lots of niggles were probably related to the back problem at the end of February.

"It's made me stronger as a person and I feel I've grown up a lot in the last six months both on and off the pitch. I found out a lot about myself because it's very mentally draining.

"A lot of the time when you're injured you can still do weight programmes, but for three or four months I was at home and putting on weight.

"I was doing core exercises every day and looking back at videos of me from a year ago it's a million miles different in terms of how much stronger I am."
