Wolves new-boy Jamie O'Hara has been wrapped in cotton wool and saved for Saturday's Arsenal clash at the Emirates, boss Mick McCarthy revealed today.
O'Hara, who is on loan from the Gunners' arch-rivals Tottenham, has caught the eye in each of his two games so far, but was substituted after an hour in his first start against Manchester United last Saturday.
McCarthy believes the 24-year-old midfielder will have a big impact at Wolves.
But he explained he needed to take O'Hara off to prevent him being sent off on Saturday, which would have made him suspended for the trip to the club where he spent five years as a schoolboy.
"He'd got himself booked and he put in that tackle in the box and I thought 'the last thing I need is for him to do another one of those and for us to be down to 10 men'," said the boss.
"The players are never going to say 'gaffer I'm knackered, I'm coming off' but I decided he was coming off because he started stretching for things and we didn't need him doing that.
"He's a bit like the rest of them he's a very willing lad. We'd got fresh legs on the bench which we needed on the pitch, and I want him fit to carry on for us."
McCarthy insisted events at the Emirates last season, when Karl Henry was sent off and Wolves lost in the 94th minute, won't have any bearing on Saturday's game.
"I felt we were unlucky at their place last season," said the boss. "This is a different game though and what happened before won't have a bearing on it."
