Comment: A reason to be optimistic after a summer of Shrewsbury Town change
The football season gets under way this weekend – it has been a summer of change for Shrewsbury Town, but there are reasons to be optimistic.

Defensive recruitment
With Matthew Pennington’s contract running down at the Croud Meadow, it always looked as though the ex-Everton man would move on.
The 28-year-old was a reliable and consistent performer for Salop and it looked as if it would be a massive hole to fill on the right side of the back three.
But the arrival of Morgan Feeney, on a free transfer from fellow League One side Carlisle United, seems to be a shrewd acquisition for Town with the defender offering a steady presence at the back.
He has been joined by Joe Anderson, on loan from Sunderland, and he provides the balance on the left side – he is highly thought of, too.
With Chey Dunkley and Tom Flanagan remaining at the club it looks like they have some real options at the back – perhaps even more than last season.
