The joint-SP chairs represented Salop at the EFL Awards alongside chief executive Brian Caldwell at Grosvenor Hotel in London.

Davis and Groves were instrumental in the pioneering crowd-funding project to bring the first-ever safe standing to an all-seater stadia in England and Wales. Safe standing has been a huge success at Montgomery Waters Meadow this season and other clubs are looking to follow suit.

They were overwhelmed at receiving the award and said it would not have been achieved without fellow Town fans.

"It's fantastic; as lower league football fans, we never expected to be recognised like this. We love our club and we do what we do because we want to make life better for our fellow fans," said Davis and Groves, who attended the evening with their wives.

“We have to mention every Shrewsbury fans across the world and couldn't have done this without the support of the people around us."

The Salop fans, who both stand in the Salop Leisure rail seats on matchday, were named League One fans of the season a few weeks ago after a nomination from the club. They saw off their counterparts from the Championship and League Two last night.

They work tirelessly alongside the club on all sorts of projects, including day-to-day items such as ticket offers. The SP meets every few months alongside club chiefs.
