Bernard McNally column: Two six-pointers lie ahead for Salop in battle at the bottom
If Shrewsbury fans see people trying, as well as some exciting football, then they can be happy things are moving forward and they will respond.
The games prior have been disappointing but it was nice to hear fans were clapping. Pompey are strong and there wasn’t much expectation for that one – now the real thing starts with crunch back-to-back games.
It’s time to really dig out results. You can’t go from a boost to slumping the next game.
Shrewsbury have struggled on the road all season. Maybe playing away at Southend on Saturday might help with no added pressure from your own fans.
This one is really a must-win for Sam Ricketts and Town. Unfortunately the same thing applies to managerless Southend.
It’s vital that we take advantage of playing Southend now while they’re winless in 11, we’ve really got to get three points on the board.
That would boost the Meadow crowd coming back for the just as crucial game with Scunthorpe next week. The two games could be crucial.
They could also be crucial because fans could lose heart if you come away without any wins.
But I still think we’ve got enough in the side to get out of it. If you look at it positively then two straight wins could almost have safety done and dusted.
I’m sure Sam and his staff will be drilling that positive mental attitude into the squad before heading to Essex. There are so many teams scrapping, a couple of wins would be a perfect return for Town.
