Shrewsbury chief Paul Hurst has not decided on play-off starting XI

Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst is yet to finalise the team that will do battle in the play-offs next week.

Town play their final game of the regular League One season at home against MK Dons tomorrow before heading into a two-legged semi-final.

Hurst has used the previous three games to trial systems and players while resting first-team personnel with Town’s third-placed position mathematically secured.

But the boss admitted he is still uncertain about parts of his side that will face either Charlton, Scunthorpe or Plymouth next week.

“I don’t know my team entirely, I would suggest,” said Hurst, who returned from a brief break from media duties yesterday.

“What I will be open and honest with is that I’ve still got one or two decisions to make for the play-off game. The team isn’t set in my mind as yet. I’ve got certain individuals that I’m almost certain, touch wood they don’t pick up injuries, will play.

“In terms of our exact team line-up and the exact shape of the team, I’ve still got some thinking time.”

Hurst used a consistent line-up in the early part of the season but has used 19 players – most of his first-team squad – as starters in games against Bury, Peterborough and Blackpool.

The boss, who was at Tuesday’s Glanford Park clash between play-off contenders Scunthorpe and Plymouth on broadcast media duties, says he has a solid grasp on how some of his potential play-off foes may line up.

He continued: “I’m not trying to be clever but I could tell you what Scunthorpe United’s team will be if everyone’s fit.

“Rotherham is slightly different, I would suggest Charlton - maybe I’d be very close to that line-up.

“If Plymouth manage to scrape in there I wouldn’t be too sure of their team.

“I think everyone’s in a different place, but for us there’s still one or two decisions to finalise.”

Town’s play-off dates have been confirmed.

They face an away first leg next Thursday (7.45pm) before a home second leg on Sunday, May 13 (5.15pm). Both games will be televised live on Sky.
