Take our chance, urges Shrewsbury's Dean Henderson

Dean Henderson is urging Shrewsbury to be relentless in their search of success and is relishing his first taste of a derby atmosphere.

Town’s popular shot-stopper is in confident mood with promotion up for grabs with Paul Hurst’s side ahead of the remaining dozen League One games.

The goalkeeper, who is 21 on Monday, is yet to face Saturday’s visitors Walsall after missing the previous two clashes with the Saddlers this term.

But after a stunning display at Charlton last time out in the league and Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy success against Yeovil, Henderson urged his team-mates to keep fighting.

He said: “Momentum. That’s what it’s all about. Be relentless and strive to be better and better. Confidence is massive thing is football, as I know myself.

“When you’re confident you feel unbeatable. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be confident from how the season has gone.”

The on-loan Manchester United man added: “Of course, we can get promoted. There is no reason why not. We held out at the top for ages.

“We’ve got games in hand. If we win all our games we get promoted. A cup final every single game.

“It’s possible because we went 16 games unbeaten at the start of the season. Let’s dream and have a right go.

“The ball is in our court. We will take each game as it comes. Don’t feel the pressure or the nerves, just enjoy it, embrace it and be confident.

“There’s no reason that, on our day if we play like at Charlton, then we know we can win all of our matches and that takes us to the Championship.”

Town have only beaten Walsall once in 15 league attempts dating back to 1993.

Henderson added: “It’s massive. Hearing the vibe around the town. Going into Tesco and people say ‘we can’t wait for the derby’ – for us we’ve got to go out there, do what we do every week to give us the bragging rights.”

“Let’s make it third time lucky for us this season and hopefully get the win.”
