Alex Rodman to be assessed by Shrewsbury for Rotherham clash

Shrewsbury will asses the fitness of winger Alex Rodman today as he bids to overcome an ‘awkward’ injury in time for tomorrow’s visit of Rotherham.

The winger came off on after just 35 minutes at Fleetwood on Tuesday night and was replaced by match-winner Nathan Thomas.

Hurst said post-match that physio Chris Skitt had described it as a ‘neural glute’ injury.

But the complaint is troubling player and management and the injury is being taken day-by-day, with a decision on his involvement set to be made today.

“We have no other concerns,” said Hurst. “The neural glute is still very much there.

“It’s an awkward one for Skitty and us generally. It’s the sort of thing where you could wake up and it feels a lot lot better.

“The plan at the minute is to give it a go today. He’s not definitely out but he’s far from fit and available. That’ll be a later decision.”

Rodman has six goals from 38 appearances for Town this term.

Hurst was keen to add more options out wide in January and Sheffield United loanee Thomas has already began to repay the faith in him shown by Hurst.

The boss also captured the signatures of Sam Jones and Abo Eisa – while Arthur Gnahoua is another option.
