Luke Hendrie hoping to push on at Shrewsbury Town
Debutant Luke Hendrie promises he has plenty more to come after an impress first display in Town colours.
The right-back gained plaudits from supporters as he shone as Shrewsbury dominated the first-half in Saturday's draw against Doncaster before being pegged back late on.
Hendrie, 23, a permanent signing from Burnley, finally got the chance at his Shrewsbury bow after being cup tied for Checkatrade Trophy and FA Cup ties.
He cut an energetic figure down Town's right flank, appearing composed on the ball and whipped a number of inviting crosses into the Doncaster penalty area.
Hendrie said: "When you come to a new club you want to hit the ground running, hopefully I can do that. There's a lot to come from me and I want to show what I can do.
"I believe I'll get better, I'm only 23 and I've got a good attitude. I want to impress, improve and push on.
"It's been a bit frustrating with the cup games, I'm cup tied in both and have been just watching. I want to play but it's given me an idea how the team and players play.
"All in all I was happy with the first half and more importantly as a team we did really well but a result like that felt like a defeat."
Despite falling out of League One's top two after dropping two points, Yorkshireman Hendrie insisted Paul Hurst's men will happily carry on fighting it out as underdogs.
"We concentrate on ourselves," he added. "Control the controllables. We know how we can perform, no-one wants us to be up here, the managers keeps telling us that, but we've got a lot of confidence.
"We're all together, the pressures on them and we'll concentrate on ourselves, that's the important thing."
