Shrewsbury Town should've had penalty - Shaun Whalley
Shaun Whalley insists he should have won Shrewsbury Town an early penalty as they went in search of all three points at Oxford.
The winger was sent charging through by Jon Nolan midway through the first period and was bundled over by left-back Ricardinho.
It was one of a number of controversial decisions by the officials, led by referee Nicholas Kinseley, while forward Carlton Morris also had a lob - proven over the line by video technology - ruled out.
Whalley said: "At the time it was a nailed on penalty.
"I've seen it back and it's a definite penalty. He's come ploughing through through the back of me, that's the only way I can describe it.
"To be honest the referee told me it wasn't intentional. If someone's going clean through on goal and a defender pushes him over it doesn't matter if it's intentional or not - it's a penalty every day for me."
Stefan Payne was again the sub hero as he netting after 84 minute following Oxford's undeserved opener.
Four wins on the bounce would've been a club record to start a league season but Paul Hurst's side remain unbeaten with 10 points from 12 available, sitting third.
Whalley added: "I know it was quite early. Obviously if he gives the penalty then he has to send him off, although there's new rules now, I don't know.
"It would've got us off to a good start because I thought we deserved to be ahead. We were really good but couldn't get the goal which would've been fully deserved.
"We kept battling and got it in the end."
