Experienced centre-half Sadler, aged 32, who swept up at Salop's end-of-season swards, has agreed a new two-year contract.

Goalkeeper Rowley, 20, has emerged through the club's youth ranks and penned a new one-year deal with Shrewsbury.

The pair join Shaun Whalley having agreed new deals, with just midfielder Bryn Morris remaining of the quartet to be originally offered fresh terms.

Town assistant boss Chris Doig was delighted to agree terms with stand-in skipper Sadler and insisted that boss Paul Hurst and the club had no qualms about handing out a two-year deal.

"Sads has been great with us since the minute we've come in, both on and off the pitch," said Doig. "The award he got proved what he was doing on the pitch.

"Also off the pitch, every day in training, he's got superb attitude, a superb professional, great among the lads, he organises and sorts things out in the dressing room.

"You need good senior pros in your dressing room and Sads is one of those. He's been absolutely top drawer for us and I'm delighted he's since.

"He'll nearly be the same age as me when his two years finishes! He's a great professional and we have no qualms about him signings two years.

"We know he'll give everything he's got for himself and for the club."

Hurst's no.2 issued a challenge to young goalkeeper Rowley to catch the eye in pre-season in a bid to make his mark on the first team.

Doig added: "Shaun's got huge potential.

"Everything we've seen in training and in games he's played, and advice taken from Coyney, it was a definite for us to give him another year to see how he gets on.

"The chance is up for Shaun and it's up to him, as with all the players, to show us on a daily basis what he's capable of.

"Like every player we'll see how it goes pre-season. It'll be in his hands to prove to us he's capable of playing and being a part of the team.

"If he produces the goods then there's no reason why he won't be involved in match day.

"A loan's another option to play if he won't get a regular run here. He's done that already very well. We'll look further down the line."

Sadler, a fan favourite at the Greeenhous Meadow was thrilled to sign a new deal and said: “I’m delighted to get it sorted, delighted to know that my futures here for the next two years and already you are thinking about the next season now.

“You are thinking about getting back into preseason, you are thinking about working your socks off, so to know that I will be doing it here at Shrewsbury, which is all I ever wanted to do, I’m chuffed to bits.”

Rowley, who club coaches believe has great potential added: "I have enjoyed my time here, really. I have enjoyed my two years and another year will be good for me I think.

"I'm just 20 so I'm still very early in my career. Danny Coyne (goalkeeping coach) has been massive for me here, training every day I have learnt so much from him."
