Shrewsbury Town freeze match day ticket prices for next season
Shrewsbury Town have frozen matchday admission prices for the 2017/18 season.
The Greenhous Meadow club are preparing for their first full campaign under Paul Hurst and, after keeping season ticket prices the same, have also retained their standard ticket costs.
Town are up on season ticket sales, with the figure currently around the 2,800 mark, and chief executive Brian Caldwell also believes offering incentives to supporters attending a number of home games throughout the season is crucial.
Caldwell said: “We are looking at some incentives, there’s a category of supporters that will come to 10 games per season and don’t justify buying a season ticket.
“We’re trying to look at incentivised methods with schemes that would benefit them and show them loyalty in giving something back.
“We’re doing so many incentives in getting young people here to watch Shrewsbury. There are a lot of lapse supporters out there, in the Southend game we had 6,000 of our own fans.”
Category A prices will remain £22 for an adult, £17 for seniors (aged 65+), disabled fans, students and young adults (17-19). Junior (12-18) prices remains at £12, while juniors aged 8-11 costs £10 and under-eights go free.
The more popular and common tickets are category B, where adults enter for £20, while seniors, disabled, students and young adults go for £15. Elder juniors are £8 with the younger age group at £6 and under-eights again going free.
Meanwhile, the Town supremo explained that negotiations were ongoing with parties interested in the vacant sponsorship positions with the club.
Long-standing partner Greenhous are stepping down this summer.
“We always knew the sponsorship was never going to go quickly,” he added.
“The good thing about Greenhous telling us early in the season means we were able to market it as widely as possible.
“We are speaking to a number of people but we don’t want to push anybody to making the wrong decision or pulling out.
“It’s important to work with the potential sponsors so they’re happy and we’re happy.”
