Paul Hurst to confirm Shrewsbury exits
Shrewsbury Town will work quickly to reveal a list of players set to leave Greenhous Meadow before the end of this week.
A handful of Paul Hurst's first-team squad are out of contract this summer while the boss admitted that he wants other contracted players, who have barely featured this term, to leave.
All six of Town's loan players will return to their parent clubs after helping Shrews retain their League One status.
"I've got a lot of work to do," said the boss. "We've brought loans in and we've had six here, they'll go back to their parent clubs. Some of the lads are out of contract, some are in contract, but I don't want everybody to stay, I'll be honest.
"And I don't think all of them want to stay, as in they want to try and get regular football.
"Early next week we'd like to announce who isn't staying, to have a couple of days or slightly longer, certainly before the end of next week we'd like to put something out publicly and inform the fans who'll want to know what the plans are.
"There are no fallouts, it's opinions and I want to work with people that want to play week in, week out and I'd like to think that's what some of the lads would want to do."
Hurst accepted that League One status will mean the opportunity to attract a better calibre of player but warned that the competition for signings is fierce.
He added: "I've got targets in mind and we'd like to get them done quickly if possible and if not then it's a patience game and making sure we'll be right for when August comes around to hit the ground running.
"It'll be easier because we're in League One but harder because of the opposition we're up against. I'd rather have that, I'm sure we'd rather be playing in League One, it'll be nice to put a squad together and see how good I feel we can make it."
