New Town hitman Stephen Humphrys is relishing the 'excitement' of senior first-team football and joining Shrewsbury for the rest of the season.

The Fulham starlet is expected to be part of Paul Hurst's squad for tomorrow's clash at relegation rivals Gillingham.

And after netting 12 times in the PL2 – the top reserve league – this season, Humphrys is ready to step up and bring more excitement to Town's season.

"I like the ball into feet but I don't mind running behind as well," said Humphrys. "I like the more exciting part of the game, facing people up and getting them one on one, not the boring side – I don't mind it but I like scoring and creating goals.

"We're in the lower end of the league at the minute, but if we can play like last Saturday – and hopefully I can add more firepower – then we can climb the table.

"There's good competition, it's always good to give the manager problems and be pushing for a place in the team."
