While intensive work is going on behind the scenes, a couple of more local options may present themselves to Town this week.

Hurst, who cut his teeth as a manager in non-league, will assess those causing a stir further down the league pyramid.

Both attacking full-back Cohen Bramall and forward Alex Reid are due to trial at Greenhous Meadow later in the week.

Age: 20

Position: Left-back

Club: Hednesford Town

Fact: A successful sprinter at Crewe & Nantwich Athletics Club as a youngster, Bramall's talents went viral in September with a spectacular 'rabona' assist.

Profile: The rampaging left-back has caught the eye of some of the top clubs in the country with his performances for Northern Premier Division outfit Hednesford Town this season.

Arriving at Keys Park from Market Drayton Town in the summer as a winger, Town boss Liam McDonald was quick to realise Bramall's potential in other areas.

He has also attracted interest from Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday.

McDonald, who now manages Solihull Moors, is convinced the youngster can make the step up.

"I sat with his mum and dad and we discussed him becoming a left-back," said McDonald.

"Out of the players I've managed, Cohen is in the top two or three who will go on to have sustainable careers in football.

"His belief has grown and he's a modern day left-back now. He's the fastest player I've managed and I can't think of a winger who'd knock it past him.

"He lives with his parents and that makes a difference. He's very settled. I believe he could go into a (professional) team and make a big difference."

Age: 20

Position: Attacker

Club: Rushall Olympic

Fact: After leaving Villa and Walsall as a youngster, Reid spent time in the fourth tier of Swedish football with Ånge IF.

Profile: Reid has caught the interest of Hurst after top-scoring for Rushall with 26 goals in the 2015/16 campaign.

The pacy frontman was released by Villa and Walsall as a youngster but since settling at Dales Lane has been a scoring sensation, attracting League One and Scottish Premier League interest.

Olympic boss John Allen said: "Alex wants pro football and the first club to come in seriously will get him, if the offer's right. He's got a great physique, he'd be an athlete if he wasn't a footballer.

"He's got a great future. He needs to work and get that luck – but he'll put the work in."
