Paul Hurst: Shrewsbury Town have achieved nothing yet
Boss Paul Hurst sent a warning that nothing had been achieved yet after his Shrewsbury Town side climbed from the foot of League One.
Shrewsbury leapfrogged three sides to 21st, and are now in the bottom four on goal difference alone, following Saturday's impressive 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers.
Town have taken 11 points from 21 available in seven league games under Hurst and have cut the deficit which saw them five points adrift at the bottom.
But the determined boss, who was sent to the stands for an interference with a Bristol free-kick at Greenhous Meadow, claims the mission has barely begun.
"I am loving it but there's still a long way to go. I'm delighted with the win, genuinely, but nothing's been achieved at all," said Hurst.
"No matter what happens at Bolton we're behind where we need to be in our points total to stay in the league.
"The biggest thing was to try and stay in touch until January. Assess things and see what we can do by strengthening the squad.
"And at the minute it's looked like we've done that – that would be one of the first targets we set out to achieve.
"But I love competing. I just said it to the players. In the press I keep hearing that I'm quiet (from the players) and maybe I am to a degree but, trust me, don't be fooled that it doesn't mean there's a lot of fight and spirit here.
"I want the team to reflect that on the pitch and they certainly did that."
The shutout against mid-table Rovers meant Town are yet to concede in five home games under Hurst, while Salop are also three League One games without letting a goal in.
The boss spent the first half of home matches in the press box for a better view, and on the incident with Rovers striker Rory Gaffney, which sent Hurst up to sit with chairman Roland Wycherley and chief executive Brian Caldwell, he smiled: "I just wanted to go and watch it in the stand again! I was disappointed with the decision, the lad dived. The ball's there, and as an ex-player it was too tempting to touch the ball."
