Paul Hurst relishing 'underdog' label at Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town chief Paul Hurst is relishing tasting a managerial 'underdog' label as Town take on Sheffield United.

The Town boss spent 15 years as a pro, where he featured mainly as a combative full-back for Rotherham United – despite his 5ft 4in frame.

Hurst's former club Grimsby were often there to be shot at in the Conference, as opposition clubs upped their performance levels for the trip to Blundell Park.

And the boss is looking forward to being on the other side of the fence.

He said: "Going to Bramall Lane can work one of two ways. You can be swamped and almost like a rabbit in the headlights or you think 'I'll have a bit of this', roll your sleeves up and say 'bring it on'.

"At my previous club it often felt like we were going in as favourites. Generally I've always been quite comfortable with the underdog-type tag.

"Maybe it's from my playing career where certain things were clearly against me!"
