Ethan Jones handed fresh Shrewsbury Town start by Paul Hurst
Manager Paul Hurst is keen for academy prospect Ethan Jones to start with a clean slate as he returns to Shrewsbury Town.
Jones was recalled from a loan spell at Tranmere Rovers – managed by former Town chief Micky Mellon – and could be in line to feature in the Checkatrade Trophy at Middlesbrough tonight.
The 18-year-old is the second academy graduate recalled from a loan spell by Hurst, after central defender Dom Smith returned from Barrow.
And Hurst wants to see the correct attitude from Jones.
"I would've thought he's champing at the bit," said Hurst. "He was unhappy at not playing at Tranmere but as I've said already that doesn't really surprise me because I've probably got a better view on what the Conference is about and I know about the quality of players there.
"Now he's back and it's a fresh start and he's got to show that he's keen. If you can't get enthusiasm out of young players then they're probably in the wrong career.
"But, the same with the other players when I walked in, it's a fresh start for him. I want to see the best of Ethan and those positive attributes come out in games and in training.
"He's still a young player. There should be a lot of development in him."
Jones, who made five appearances for Tranmere, was handed his full Salop league debut by Mellon in the 0-0 draw at Coventry in August.
