Andy Mangan leaves Shrewsbury Town to join Mellon at Tranmere
Shrewsbury Town forward Andy Mangan has left Greenhous Meadow to link up with former boss Micky Mellon at Tranmere Rovers.
The 30-year-old Scouser returns to former side Tranmere, who play in the National League, on a deal until the end of next season.
Mellon left Salop last month and immediately took up the vacant role at Preston Park.
Fans' favourite Mangan, 30, will be most remembered for his famous strike in a packed out League Cup clash with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, dragging Salop level on the night.
He was in his second spell with Shrewsbury, returning in January. In total he scored 16 goals for the club in 71 appearances.
Mangan has moved to the Merseyside outfit for an undisclosed fee.
Mellon's Tranmere are able to sign players outside of the transfer window due to new ruling in place for the National League this season.
Meanwhile, Salop academy prospect Ethan Jones, 18, has returned from a youth loan with Rovers - where he made two starts.
