Brian Caldwell relieved after 'horrendous' Shrewsbury Town manager hunt
Shrewsbury Town chief executive Brian Caldwell admitted his relief after a 'horrendous' 18-day slog appointing Salop's new manager.
Paul Hurst was yesterday unveiled as Greenhous Meadow's latest boss and Caldwell fully understood why supporters' frustrations boiled over during Saturday's dismal 4-2 home defeat to Northampton Town.
"It feels like 18 months, honestly," the chief exec conceded. "It's been a horrendous procedure, a long, drawn-out process and we can understand the frustration boiled over on Saturday. But it was frustrating for us as well.
"But we've got here now. We draw a line under it and we move on together."
Caldwell was pleased that the club were able to capture his gut choice, after Salop were finally granted permission by League Two Grimsby Town to speak with the 42-year-old Yorkshireman.
He added: "We've got the one we wanted, we've got the right guy, he certainly fitted all of the attributes we were looking for. I'm confident he's a good fit and will take us forward. To be a good fit you need to be a hungry and honest too."
