Micky Mellon keen to end Shrewsbury set-piece woes

Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon has warned his players that there are no excuses in failing to defend set-pieces ahead of Swindon's visit.

Salop have been undone in recent games by a troublesome habit of conceding from set-plays, which has cost them in games against Scunthorpe United, AFC Wimbledon and Peterborough United.

The Scottish chief – whose side welcome Swindon, just two points and four places better of than Town in 18th – relayed his frustration on the issue.

"There is no excuse, we're not looking for those," said Mellon.

"But sometimes human beings get caught, 'thinking here we go again' and panic.

"We can't defend like that from those situations. We've got to defend how we agree it'd be done correctly. We chose a line and that will be the starting position. They're encouraged not to drop deeper than that line, they need to hold that line."
