Shrewsbury's Shaun Whalley ruled out for weeks
Shrewsbury Town have been dealt a hammerblow as winger Shaun Whalley will be out for between four and six weeks.
The attacker pulled a calf muscle in Tuesday's Greenhous Meadow draw with Peterborough and was forced off as a substitute midway through the second period.
The sub caused controversy among supporters who were unaware with the fact that Whalley, who had put in an eye-catching performance, had picked up the knock.
It is not the first time this season the winger has struggled with the problem this season, having missed around a month when originally picking up the injury during the Cup success over Huddersfield in August.
Salop boss Micky Mellon said: "I know the frustrations in the ground and we all feel it. Shaun's popped his calf, as I said at the time, so he'll be out for between four and six weeks, which is a big blow for us.
"Because the reason why we won't to control certain areas of the pitch is so we can get Shaun Whalley in positions like the other evening. Into dangerous areas high up the pitch so he can do what he did.
"He gets fans on edge of seats, and he's getting shots on goal where the keeper's making good saves. He's also laying other people in and he's good at retaining the ball at that end of the pitch.
"We have to now find another way or another person who can do that, but I believe in the group we will have that."
