Micky Mellon: Errors to blame, not training
Shrewsbury Town chief Micky Mellon has pleaded with supporters to lay off the club's coaching methods as individual errors again proved costly.
Salop fans called for questions to be asked on why Town continue to look frail defensively from set-pieces.
The problem cost them during Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Scunthorpe, when the League One high-fliers scored from a right-sided delivery deep into first-half added time.
But Mellon defended the actions of his staff, notably assistant manager and first-team coach Mike Jackson.
"There's a difference between tactics and individual performance, and all of the time there's a moment when it's an individual's job to do a certain task," said the boss.
"We all do the coaching defensively and we all do the coaching attacking-wise. Every goal that we've lost, we could pinpoint down and it's not tactics.
"We all take responsibility for everything we do, and so do the players. There's got to be a moment where they have to understand there's a task to be done and they didn't perform it right at that moment."
