Shrewsbury Town chief Micky Mellon has reiterated the importance of taking all three points at Oldham tomorrow.

Salop aim to climb out of the bottom four at Boundary Park by securing their second League One success of the season.

And Mellon, who was delighted to add Jack Grimmer and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to his squad on transfer deadline day, insisted that the time to take the points has now arrived.

"Things are moving ahead, we just need to get some wins," admitted the boss.

"You hope that the signings have lifted the club, yes. Football's all about winning games, there's no getting away from that.

"Of course we have to work on the process of trying to make that pattern more consistent with our training, so we give ourselves a chance of winning more games.

"But the bottom line is about winning.

"You've got to win games of football and I'm very aware of that, so we're working hard to try and do that.

"I've never ever hidden away from that fact we've got to win.

"But there's a process that you have to work on to get a group integrated and knowing each other in order to do that.

"Whatever system or personnel that you play, you need to win games."

Former Wolves hero Ebanks-Blake will hope to make an immediate impact at Oldham tomorrow.

Mellon hopes that the on-loan Chesterfield man, who won two Championship golden boots in his five-year Molineux spell, can have a positive impact on other members of the Salop squad.

The Scot added: "The young strikers here will look up to Sylvan because he's been there and done it, right at the top of the game. He's a very good addition and an interesting addition.

"Everybody will know what he's capable of; let's hope he hits the ground running and gets flying, scoring goals and links us at that end of the field.

"The final third is one of the areas we know we have to get better in.

"A wee bit more imagination and a wee bit more of a plan and know-how – he certainly brings all of that."
