Micky Mellon: I know my Shrewsbury Town team for league opener
Micky Mellon heads into tomorrow's friendly against Hibernian hinting he already knows his Shrewsbury Town team for the League One opener against MK Dons.
Tomorrow's visit of Hibs will be Town's fifth and final warm-up clash.
And after offering his squad opportunities to stake their claim for a starting spot, the boss is content he has settled on a team.
"There is still a way to go because can have injuries and the rest of it, but I would say in my mind now I probably have a team that if the game was today I would pick," said Mellon.
"So I would say we'll work on things like fitness but I've already got a team in mind.
"We'll continue to keep working with the group and if we think someone needs match minutes then we'll use it for that."
Mellon is relishing a reunion with Hibs chief Neil Lennon, who replaced Alan Stubbs as boss of the Scottish Cup holders in June.
Lennon had a big impact on Mellon's early managerial career.
"I know Neil well so it'll be nice to see him," Mellon added.
"When he went to Celtic I was lucky enough to spend some time with him and see how they did things while at Fleetwood.
"He was very good and opened the doors to us and let us have a good look around."
