Shrewsbury Town at full-strength for Hibs

Boss Micky Mellon is looking to utilise Shrewsbury Town's final pre-season clash against Hibernian on Sunday as a dress rehearsal for their League One bow.

Salop welcome relegated Championship outfit Milton Keynes Dons to the Greenhous Meadow a week on Saturday.

But, before that, they must negotiate a tough warm-up clash with Neil Lennon's Hibs.

Mellon has been shuffling his pack during the close-season by handing players 45 minutes to an hour here and there.

The defeat at Stourbridge on Monday night proved a chance to blood a number of academy starlets.

But the Scot insisted that the visit of the Scottish Championship side will be very much a test for Town's strongest available set-up.

He said: "It will probably be more of a team that's been prepared for a game.

"It's about what we want to do on and off the ball and what we want to achieve with and without the ball.

"That will probably be a more structured game for us and one that we're looking forward to.

"We'll build up the fitness levels again in the coming days and work them towards that MK Dons game."

Getting the likes of Richie Wellens, Ian Black and Adam El-Abd game-time at Stourbridge was important in shaping his group ahead of the upcoming competitive campaign.

Mellon added: "I've got to get a full group as fit as I possibly can. That's what pre-season is for and that's what Stourbridge was for.

"We looked to get as many people playing at Solihull and as many people at Stourbridge, people got a lot of time on the pitch.

"We've done that now, we've not got any injuries so I'm pleased."

Black played his first football since picking up a knock in the opening summer defeat to Cardiff City, while latest signing El-Abd played his first 90 minutes in blue and amber.

Fellow new addition Jim O'Brien also featured, after picking up a niggle in the victory over Birmingham City.
